(914) 220-1086The driver responsible for a multi-car accident in Brooklyn that injured several people will face a variety of charges, according to ABC News. The accident occurred as the driver was attempting to evade police early Wednesday morning. The police car that had been chasing the suspect was also involved in the crash, as was another vehicle uninvolved in the chase that was stopped at a red light. The police were chasing the driver because they believed that his car was involved in an earlier hit and run in Queens. ABC reports that the driver is charged with “reckless endangerment, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, 10 counts of failure to obey traffic device, driving in the wrong direction on a one way street, driving while ability impaired and refusal to take breathalyzer.”
Even without the presence of a felony charge, the driver is facing severe penalties if convicted of all of the counts above. Fortunately for all involved, the reported injuries, although requiring hospital treatment, were relatively minor (at least at the time of this writing). Had someone died or been seriously injured, the driver could certainly be facing much heavier charges than those listed. The results of the charges will not be known for some time, after the investigation and trial of the suspect.
